India recorded an average of 79 murder cases per day in 2019, according to the latest government data. A total of 28,918 murder cases were recorded in 2019, a marginal drop of 0.3% from 2018 (29,017 cases), according to data compiled by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
