Five people, including three children, were killed on Friday after the car in which they were traveling dived in Raggi Nala in Doda district.
Those killed were traveling in a car from Gool to Thathri when their car got out of hand in a three hundred meter deep gorge. It is believed that all of them died on site due to the impact.
The first responders were a local NGO, the Al Khair Foundation, followed by the JK police who were assisted by residents. “If the crash barriers had been installed along the road, this accident could have been avoided,” said Mukhtar Ahmed, one of the local first responders.
“Around 9:30 am, we were informed of the incident and the rescue operation was launched immediately. It is a dangerous area, accidents happen regularly. We also informed the authorities earlier. strong barricades should be made here, “he added.
One of the accident hotspots is National Highway 244, which links the Chenab Valley to the rest of India. Last week, three separate accidents also occurred that claimed the lives of 20 people, including women and children.
