India today reported 47,638 new cases of COVID-19, 5% fewer than yesterday. The total number of cases in the country thus reached 84.11 lakh, with 1,24,985 deaths. However, the total number of active cases dropped from 7,189 to just over 5.2 lakhs. Overall recoveries amounted to 77.66 lakhs, up 54,157 since yesterday.

The Delhi High Court has expressed its displeasure with the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the national capital and observed that the city may soon become the “corona capital of the country”. A bench of judges Hima Kohli and Subramonium Prasad said the Delhi government had gone completely haywire over the pandemic.
