New Delhi:
A regional party with only two MLAS has withdrawn support for the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan, which is trying to weather its worst crisis since 2018, sources said. The ruling Congress is on the brink of a split in the state, with Mr. Gehlot’s deputy, Sachin Pilot, openly rebelling.
Mahesh Bhai Vasava, the leader of the Bharatiya tribal party, wrote to his deputies to tell him that his party would remain neutral in the event of a ground test in the assembly. MEPs were asked to remain absent during a ground test.
Pilot said he had the support of 30 MPs and that the government is now in the minority. Congress initially declared that it had the support of about 16 deputies. Tonight, they revised the number to 10 or 12.
