Panaji:

The lockout must be extended for another 15 days as the COVID-19 graph is up, Goa’s head of government, Pramod Sawant, said on Friday, adding that more flexibility should be given to the state.

“The lockout must be extended for another 15 days, it is necessary because the graph for COVID-19 is up,” said Sawant.

“I spoke to interior minister Amit Shah on the phone and I think the lockdown could be extended for another 15 days. However, we do require that there be releases – restaurants should be allowed with social distance to 50%. Many people also want gyms to take over, “he added.

Sawant said they are awaiting directives from the Interior Ministry and that if the state slackens, directives will be issued for Goa accordingly.

Meanwhile, after one person tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday, the number of COVID-19 cases in Goa has reached 69, the Goa Department of Health Services informed.
