A 12-year-old girl with hearing and speech impairments was reportedly raped and killed by her cousin in Deesa town, Banaskantha district, Gujarat, police said on Saturday.
The victim’s body was found in a remote location near Moti Bhakhar village of Dantiwada taluka in the morning, Deputy Police Commissioner Kushal Oza said.
“At first glance, it appears that the 12-year-old girl was raped and then murdered by the accused identified as her cousin. The body has been sent for an autopsy and the report is awaited,” the official said.
The victim’s 25-year-old relative was arrested for questioning, he said, adding that the case was under investigation by Dantiwada police.
