Income Tax Department Honored Girija Bai Tiwari from Bina in Sagar District, Madhya Pradesh

Four hundred-year-old women, including a 117-year-old, have been praised by Madhya Pradesh’s income tax department for paying their taxes regularly, an official here said on Tuesday.

In light of COVID-19 protocols, the congratulatory program was held via video conference on Monday with officials visiting these women at their homes in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to pay their respects.

The Income Tax Department honored Girija Bai Tiwari (117) from Bina in the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, Ishwaribai Lulla (103) and Kanchan Bai (100) from Indore in the state, and Beena Rakshit (100) from Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh for paying their taxes regularly, the official said.

When asked if Girija Bai is the oldest taxpayer in the world or India, Senior Income Tax Commissioner (Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh) AK Chauhan told PTI, I am not. not sure, but it is certainly the older of the two states according to the PAN map record. She is certainly one of the oldest taxpayers in the country. “

Mr. Chauhan informed that Girija Bai receives a family pension on behalf of her husband, who was the original pensioner.

The congratulation took place as part of the 160th Day of the Income Tax Foundation, celebrated on July 24.

The department has also opened two new Aaykar Sewa Kendra in the Morena and Balaghat districts of Madhya Pradesh for the convenience of state taxpayers, Mr. Chauhan said.
