A day after a senior UP police officer claimed that the woman Hathras Dalit had not been raped, Chief Congresswoman Randeep Singh Surjewala accused the BJP government of “conspiring” to prove she was a “liar”.
He alleged that the UP authorities tried to “shut things up and forcibly cremate the victim” in the middle of the night against Hindu rituals.
“This in itself was a painful incident,” he said, adding that Yogi Adityanath’s government should “bow their heads in shame”.
“Adityanath’s DIG, Law and Order, now says no rape has taken place. If you had an Adityanathji daughter, you would understand the pain. If an unfortunate incident occurs with a daughter or a son, how painful we are, ”Congress said.
The former Haryana minister said the victim in her death statement confirmed the gang rape.
