The World Health Organization mission to China laid the groundwork for an investigation into the animal origins of the coronavirus pandemic, the United Nations health agency said on Monday.
“The WHO forward team that visited China has now completed its mission of laying the groundwork for further joint efforts to identify the origins of the virus,” agency chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, during a virtual press conference, adding: “Epidemiological studies will begin in Wuhan to identify the potential source of infection of the first cases. “
