Woman filed a complaint against a BJP MP from Uttarakhand, accusing him of repeatedly raping her between 2016 and 2018, and she was charged with allegedly blackmailing her over a complaint lawmaker’s wife, police said on Monday.

“The married woman brought the allegations against Dwarahat Mahesh Negi of the BJP. A complaint was filed Sunday at the Nehru settlement police station,” said DG (Law and Order) Ashok Kumar.

The MP could not be reached for comment.

In her complaint, the woman claimed he fathered her child and that a DNA test can be done to find out the truth, police say.

She accused the MP of traveling with her to Mussoorie, Nainital, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Nepal and raping her on several occasions between 2016 and 2018.

The woman who claims to be the MP’s neighbor said she met him about her mother’s illness in 2016. She also accused the lawmaker’s wife of offering her Rs 25 lakh “to keep her mouth shut”, they said. they stated.

Meanwhile, the MP’s wife also filed a complaint with the Nehru Settlement Police Station, accusing the woman of blackmailing her husband, Kumar said.

One case has been registered and an investigation is underway, he said.

The sensational allegations against the BJP MP have spiked political temperatures in Uttarakhand, with state congressman Pritam Singh saying the charges are serious and a DNA test should be done.

“It is serious that a member of parliament should be accused of sexual harassment by a woman because she also has a child. A DNA test of the baby should be done to find the truth,” Singh said.
