Islamabad:

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has said he is even ready to start talks with his British counterpart Boris Johnson to secure the expulsion of Pakistani Muslim League leader-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif from London.

Citing an interview with Khan on FYR News on Friday, Dawn quoted Prime Minister Khan as saying that since Nawaz’s extradition from Britain would be a “long process” his government was pushing for his deportation. “what can happen immediately”.

“We are in regular contact with their officials. We are making every effort to have him deported,” the Pakistani prime minister said.

“If I have to, I’ll go talk to Boris Johnson,” he added.

This comes weeks after the British government informed Pakistani officials that they would not get involved in “its domestic politics.”

For nearly a month, the Pakistani government has repeatedly tried to get Sharif’s arrest warrant signed.

The News International reported that the country’s diplomats stationed in London have also called on the British government to help execute the arrest warrants for Nawaz, but the government has flatly refused.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) last month sharply criticized the government led by Imran Khan for allowing Sharif to go abroad without notifying the court and it was up to the dispensation to take action to ensure the latter’s return to the country.
