Kolkata:
The West Bengal BJP said on Monday that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who also owns the health portfolio, was not spending enough time to deal with the COVID-19 epidemic, and asked for the appointment of a full-time Minister of Health in the state.
In a letter to the CM, BJP President Dilip Ghosh suggested several measures to deal with the coronavirus epidemic crises and the devastation caused by Cyclone Amphan, and demanded that those affected by the natural disaster receive financial aid and jobs via the MNREGA.
In addition to health, the chief minister must deal with several other departments, which leads to neglect of dealing with the COVID-19 epidemic, said Ghosh in the letter.
“We propose the appointment of a full-time Minister of Health who will deal with the crisis facing the state in the management of public health because the chief minister does not devote enough time to the crucial department “, indicates the letter.
Welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the areas affected by Amphan and the immediate release of 1,000 crore rupees as ad hoc assistance to the state, Ghosh said that Mamata Banerjee’s government should provide 2 lakh rupees compensation to the families of those who died in the cyclone. and 50,000 rupees for the seriously injured.
“Each poor poor affected by the cyclone will receive 1,000 rupees each for the next three months. The money should be transferred directly to the bank accounts of those affected in order to keep the financial aid process free from corruption” , he said.
The BJP MP suggested that in all districts affected by the cyclone, appropriate measures should be taken to ensure that people get food, clean water, safe shelter and medical assistance.
He demanded that residents of these districts be tested for coronavirus infection and that adequate infrastructure be put in place to treat patients with COVID-19.
Ghosh said in the letter that pucca houses should be built under Prime Minister Awas Yojana in the cyclone-prone areas of the state so that people do not have to live in potentially dangerous mud houses.
Alleging that unscrupulous people were stealing grain for the state’s public distribution system, he said, “We ask you to take steps to reach the ration at the doorsteps of poor families in West Bengal.”
“Although the state government has taken initiatives for the delivery of alcohol to the home, but such measures have not been taken to reach the ration of the residences of the poor,” said the president of the State of the BJP.
Picking up on the issue of migrant workers that led to a verbal duel between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP, he demanded that the state government ensure that entrepreneurs in the MSME sector get easy loans to create more jobs so that workers who have returned do not. need to leave the state again.
The head of the BJP demanded that investments be made in self-help groups to ensure that women workers became an important part of the state’s economy.
He also called for a 3,000 rupee relief program for all small traders, hawkers and transport workers so that they can overcome their financial problems due to the closure of the business during the closure.
He also asked for exemption from duty on MSME electricity bills for two months to help them turn around.
Ghosh, however, thanked the chief minister for speeding up the corona tests and dismissed an audit committee that had been set up by her government to investigate the cause of death for COVID-19 patients.
He demanded that the Trinamool congressional government introduce Prime Minister Kisan Yojana and Ayushman Bharat Yojana into the state, saying “These will save 3,131 crore rupees from the state budget which may be used to turn the economy of West Bengal upside down. “
