The last rites of composer Wajid Khan were performed on Monday at Mumbai’s Versova cemetery. Wajid Khan, half of the Sajid-Wajid composers, died at the age of 42 of complications from a kidney infection. Mr. Khan’s funeral was attended by family members, including his wife and brother Sajid Khan, as well as actor Aditya Pancholi, the ANI news agency reported. Wajid Khan, famous for composing lively Bollywood acts like Hud Hud Dabangg, Chinta Ta Chita Chita and Fevicol se among others, was cried on Twitter by Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra and Karan Johar.
Wajid Khan’s longtime collaborator Salman Khan tweeted, “Wajid, will always love you, respect you, will remember you and will miss you as a person and your talent. Love yourself and may your beautiful soul rest in peace.” Sajid-Wajid started his career with Salman’s film in 1998 Pyar Kiya in Darna Kya, for which they composed the song Teri Jawani, and has marked several of the star’s latest films, including Partner and the Dabangg series.

Music composer Salim Merchant confirmed the news of Wajid Khan’s death to the PTI news agency. He said, “He had several problems. He had a kidney problem and had a transplant some time ago. But recently he learned of a kidney infection … He had been on a ventilator for four days , after his situation started to get worse. The kidney infection was the beginning, then it became critical. “
Sajid-Wajid has also composed the soundtrack for numerous films with Akshay Kumar, such as Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore. Wajid Khan was also a playback singer and sang songs such as Mashallah of Ek Tha Tiger, Pandey Ji Seeti and Fevicol se of Dabangg 2, and Chinta Ta Chita Chita of Rowdy Rathore. Mr. Khan also sang the title song for the Indian Premier League 4, composed by Sajid-Wajid.
