Hanoi:
Vietnamese aviation authorities immobilized two foreign pilots after a VietJet Air passenger plane they controlled slipped on a runway as it landed in Ho Chi Minh City, media reports said on Monday.
The plane, which arrived from the tourist island of Phu Quoc, slipped on the runway at Tan Son Nhat airport on Sunday due to heavy rain and a tailwind, VietJet said in a statement.
The Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority also seized the licenses of the two pilots, pending the investigation of the incident, reported the official Vietnam news agency.
“The plane, the passengers and the crew are safe,” VietJet said in the statement, without specifying the number of people on board.
Local media said the airport was briefly closed on Sunday due to the incident, adding that the plane involved was an Airbus A321neo.
