On the first anniversary of Veeru Devgan’s death, filmmaker Rohit Shetty remembered him and shared an emotional post on social media. Rohit Shetty, who entered Bollywood as a stunt coordinator and is known for his high octane action movies, considered the late action director to be his “guru”. Rohit shared a few retrospective images on Wednesday – one of them was on film sets and another was of a reward feature, which starred Veeru Devgan with stepdaughter Kajol, where Rohit Shetty presented the late director with a lifetime achievement award. “Back in time Veeru ji taught us raw and real action, no cables and no computer graphics. We were privileged to have him as a guru. I never made a single move without setting an example for my team and I never imagined that I would be blessed enough to give you the award for lifetime achievement, “wrote Rohit Shetty.

Last year, Rohit Shetty paid tribute to Veeru Devgan by sharing a detailed note, recalling all the important lessons he taught him. An extract from Rohit Shetty’s post said: “It takes real fathers to turn their boys into heroes. the age of 16, still as strong at 4 and I know a man who will always be proud of me in paradise. My guru, my father – Veeru Devgan. “Recounting the two most important lessons that Veeru Devgan taught him, Rohit wrote:” Two most important lessons that he taught me: be honest with your work and the work will be honest with you. Meanwhile, Veeru Devgan’s son and Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn shared a moving tribute on social media and he captioned it: “Dear dad, you have been gone for a year. However, I can feel you beside me, calm, attentive, protective; your presence is always reassuring,”

Veeru devgan died of age-related health problems on May 27 of last year. Mr. Devgan was a seasoned director, who choreographed action sequences in over 80 Bollywood films, particularly in the 1990s. He was best known for directing action sequences in classic films such as Mr. Natwarlal, Mr. India, Shahenshah and Tridev among others. Mr. Devgan also directed and produced Ajay, Manisha Koirala and Amitabh Bachchan in the 1999 film Hindustan Ki Kasam.

Rohit Shetty worked with Ajay, the son of Veeru Devgan, Golmaal series, the Singham upcoming series and movie Sooryavanshi, which stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role.
