New Delhi:

Varun Dhawan, in a tweet on Wednesday, dismissed a report that his father David Dhawan was working on a remake of Amitabh Bachchan. Namak Halaal. The report, released by entertainment website Box Office Worldwide, said the supposed remake was to play Varun Dhawan. Sharing the Box Office Worldwide tweet, Varun Dhawan called up the website and wrote, “Guys, you can write the number of imaginary stories about me, but don’t make things up about my dad.” Varun criticized the article with these words: “It’s a completely fabricated story.” Referring to his next film Coolie No 1, Varun wrote: “I’ll see you at Christmas to make you laugh.” The Box Office Worldwide story and tweet appear to have been deleted.

Earlier this month, Varun Dhawan shared a similar tweet, calling Bollywood Hungama and clarify all is well between him and his father. “Maybe until I don’t give you an interview, you shouldn’t write on my behalf sir,” Varun tweeted for an article titled “Divided Wide Open.”

A few days after this tweet, the manufacturers announced that the much delayed Coolie No 1 has targeted Christmas as a release date and Amazon Prime Video as a platform. Coolie No 1 is one of nine films slated for release this year on the OTT platform.

Varun Dhawan co-stars with Sara Ali Khan in Coolie No 1, which is David Dhawan’s remake of his 1995 film. While Varun describes the role originally played by Govinda, Sara has taken over from Karisma Kapoor.
