The United States will support countries that believe China has violated their maritime claims in the South China Sea, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Wednesday, but has emphasized doing so in multilateral and legal forums.
“We will then use the tools we have and we will support countries around the world that recognize that China has also violated their legal land claims – or maritime claims,” Pompeo told reporters.
