Washington:
US President-elect Joe Biden said on Tuesday that despite Trump’s refusal to concede defeat in the US presidential election, he was ready to begin the transition to assume the presidency.
“We are already starting the transition, we are well on our way, and the ability of the administration in any way to not recognize our victory does not change the dynamics of what we are able to do,” Biden said at the time. of a press conference in Wilmington, Delaware.
He also expressed confidence that his opponents’ reluctance to acknowledge his victory at this point did not matter much in his planning and what he will be able to do by January 20.
“I think the whole Republican Party has been put in a position with a few exceptions to be slightly intimidated by the incumbent president,” he said.
When asked what he would say if he met Trump, he replied, “Mr. President, I can’t wait to speak with you.”
Biden, a former vice president, on his third attempt at the White House, defeated Trump in a hotly contested election to become the 46th President of the United States.
Washington’s four-decade figure received about 74 million votes, or 4 million more than the president.
Moments after Biden was cast as the winner of the US presidential election, Trump refused to concede defeat, saying the election was “far from over,” and promised legal challenges through his re-election campaign.
Trump’s campaign has filed several lawsuits to challenge the results in a few battlefield states after the president spent months spreading unsubstantiated allegations that postal ballots could open the election to fraud, reported The Hill.
