The United States congratulated three Indian companies that NASA selected to manufacture a ventilator specifically designed to treat COVID-19 patients.

“Congratulations to the 3 Indian companies NASA selected to manufacture a ventilator specially designed to treat COVID-19 patients. Only 21 licenses have been granted worldwide – a testament to the beneficiaries and the importance of the Indian-American partnership for fight COVID19, “said the Bureau of South and Central Asia Affairs in a tweet.

He made comments re-tweeting a May 30 tweet from NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which said, “The manufacturers have been selected to make our specific COVID-19 ventilator, VITAL. It’s simpler and more affordable than the ventilators traditional, releasing the latter for more severe symptoms. Its design can be used in field hospitals. “

According to a NASA press release from May 29 – VITAL (Ventilator Intervention Technology Accessible Localally), the high-pressure fan was designed to use one seventh of the parts of a traditional fan, building on parts already available in the chains supply.

“It offers a simpler and more affordable option to treat critical patients while freeing up traditional ventilators for those with the most severe symptoms of COVID-19. Its flexible design means it can also be modified for use in field hospitals, “the statement said.
