According to a NASA press release from May 29 – VITAL (Ventilator Intervention Technology Accessible Localally), the high-pressure fan was designed to use one seventh of the parts of a traditional fan, building on parts already available in the chains supply.
“It offers a simpler and more affordable option to treat critical patients while freeing up traditional ventilators for those with the most severe symptoms of COVID-19. Its flexible design means it can also be modified for use in field hospitals, “the statement said.
