Vikas Dubey: The SIT will submit its report to the government before July 31 (File)

A special investigation team (SIT) will investigate the rise of gangster Vikas Dubey into the crime scene and how he managed to kill eight police officers in an ambush in his home village earlier this month, the government of Uttar Pradesh. If the police have taken effective action against Dubey in the past when they have received complaints against him, the team, which includes a senior Indian administrative services officer and two Indian police officers, will investigate.

SIT will submit its report to the government before July 31, the statement said.

The investigation team will investigate intelligence and operational failures that led to the deaths of eight police officers earlier this month when they went to search Dubey’s home near Kanpur.

“On the day of the incident, was there any laxity in gathering information regarding the accused’s firepower? What was the level of laxity, the police station had enough information “The SIT will investigate this and indicate who it is,” said the UP government.

After committing the crime with his accomplices, Dubey had escaped from the village. On Thursday, he surfaced in a prominent temple in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, where he was arrested.

On Friday morning, he was shot dead by the Uttar Pradesh task force – which brought him back from Ujjain by road – when he seized an officer’s pistol, following the car accident in which he was traveling, said UP police.
