Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh:
A 17-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually harassed by three men killed herself on Tuesday in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district, police said.
The incident took place in a village in the district. The teenager “jumped into a well and killed herself,” Deputy Police Superintendent Tanu Upadhyay said.
Family members claimed the girl was upset due to sexual harassment from Guddu Singh, Dabbu Singh and Gunnu Tiwari, residents of the same village, Updahyay said.
An FIR (First Information Report) has been filed under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Efforts are underway to arrest the suspects, the officer said, adding that the girl’s body had been sent for an autopsy.
