The government of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday announced compensation of Rs 50 lakh and government employment to the family of Sepoy Prashant Sharma, who lost his life during a meeting in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, announced the office of the chief minister.
Sepoy Prashant Sharma was a resident of Khanjapur village in Muzaffarnagar district in the state.
The state government also decided to name a road in Muzaffarnagar after its name.
The soldier was the “main element” of his party when he came into contact with terrorists during a specific search operation launched in the village of Zadoora, in the district of Pulwama.
In the ensuing shooting, three terrorists were eliminated and Sepoy Prashant Sharma sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.
Although he was seriously injured, he continued to fight. He was then evacuated to Base 92 Hospital, Srinagar, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
The 23-year-old soldier joined the Army’s 26th Mechanized Infantry Battalion in 2016. He was serving with the 50 Rashtriya Rifle Battalion.
He belonged to the village of Khanjapur in the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his parents.
