The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist group, Noor Wali Mehsud, has been designated as a global terrorist by the United Nations for its participation in the financing, planning and carrying out of acts on behalf of and in support of entities associated with Al-Qaida.

The TTP was blacklisted by the UN on July 29, 2011 for its association with al-Qaida.

The US Department of State’s Center for South and Central Affairs Office (SCA) said in a tweet that it welcomes the addition of Mehsud by the UN to the sanctions list of the EIIL and Al Qaida.

Blacklisting by the Security Council implies that all states are required to immediately freeze the funds and other financial assets or economic resources of the persons and entities designated.
