Information Technology and Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Friday that he had tested negative for COVID-19.

Mr Prasad, who is also justice minister, went into solitary confinement earlier this week, in accordance with protocol, after meeting with Home Secretary Amit Shah on the evening of August 1.

In a tweet on Friday, Mr Prasad said: “My friends! My COVID test is negative. The report arrived today. I had been in isolation for a week because I attended a meeting with Amit Shah an day before it was found positive “.

He thanked his friends and supporters for their support. Mr Prasad said he was well throughout his life and followed his daily routine, exercise and work from home.

In another tweet, he said: “Many friends and supporters sent their overwhelming messages of support. I was fine throughout my daily routine, exercising and working from home too. My sincere gratitude and thank you to all. God bless you “.

Shah on Sunday said he tested positive for coronavirus and was admitted to hospital on the advice of doctors.
