New Delhi:
Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who recently met Interior Minister Amit Shah, self-isolated as a protocol, sources said.
The Union Law Minister has no symptoms and the self-isolation is purely based on the existing protocol, they added.
Mr Prasad had met the Home Secretary on Saturday, a day before Mr Shah announced that he had contracted the virus.
Mr Shah, who has been at the forefront of the fight against the virus that has infected more than 18 lakh in India, tweeted on Sunday to inform that he had contracted the deadly disease.
“On getting the first symptoms of the coronavirus, I took the test and the report came back positive. My health is fine, but I am admitted to the hospital on the advice of the doctors. I ask that all of you who have come to contact me for the past few days, please isolate yourself and do your investigation, ”Mr. Shah said in the Hindi tweet.
Mr Prasad responded to the Minister’s tweet wishing him a speedy recovery.
“Amit Shah ji! It is a prayer to God that you will soon be in good health and that you resume serving the country with the same energy, ”Mr Prasad replied in Hindi.
The interior minister was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Haryana’s Gurgaon, near Delhi, sources said.
Mr. Shah, 55, attended a cabinet meeting a few days ago. Sources said a thorough contact tracing will be carried out and anyone who has come into contact with the minister will have to self-isolate.
