Awareness, not anxiety, is key to fighting the coronavirus pandemic, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Sunday at the launch of “ COVID BEEP ”, the first physiological parameter monitoring system wireless in the country for affected patients.
Singh said COVID BEEP would appear to be an effective antidote to the pandemic the world is currently facing, said a statement from the Ministry of Personnel.
By launching COVID BEEP, developed by the medical college of employees of the State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Hyderabad, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad and the Department of Atomic Energy, he highlighted the importance of prevention and awareness in the face of this pandemic. effectively that the unlocking process started gradually after a lockdown of more than two months.
COVID BEEP, which stands for Continuous Oxygenation and Detection of Vital Information Biomed ECIL ESIC Pod, is India’s first cost-effective indigenous wireless physiological parameter monitoring system for COVID-19 patients, the statement said.
The latest version of COVID BEEP integrated NIBP (non-invasive blood pressure) monitoring, ECG (electrocardiogram) monitoring and respiratory rate, the statement said.
“COVID BEEP will significantly reduce the risk of transmission and will save resources such as personal protective equipment (PPE),” he said.
Minister of State for Personnel Singh said that awareness, not anxiety, is the key to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, he added.
He said COVID BEEP is a perfect example of how synergy between reputable institutes in India can provide solutions to most of the challenges the country faces with minimal cost and thus make the country ‘Atmanirbhar‘in the truest sense of the word.
Mr. Singh also appreciated the work of the Department of Atomic Energy, to which ECIL reports, in developing solutions to many health problems.
Contrary to popular perception, the Department of Atomic Energy is actively involved in promoting the benevolent use of nuclear energy for the greater well-being of mankind, he said.
“Whether in the field of electricity production, the increase of agricultural products, food preservation or the administration of the well-known oncology center called TMC in Mumbai, the department of “Atomic energy has always risen to support the country when it needs it most,” the statement said.
The development of COVID BEEP is another step in the same direction, he added.
Minister of State for Internal Affairs G Kishan Reddy, Secretary of the Department of Atomic Energy, KN Vyas, Dean of the ESIC Medical College, Prof Srinivas, President and Director General of ECIL, Hyderabad, Rear Admiral Sanjay Chaubey (Retd ) also spoke on the occasion, stressing the importance of these inventions in the current context, according to the press release.
