New Delhi:
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who has denied allegations of conspiring with the rebel Sachin Pilot team to bring down the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan, today criticized the activities of congressional deputies who were kidnapped in a luxury resort in Jaipur.
“In the midst of this pandemic, you play antakshari, cook Italian food. Rajasthan is watching,” Mr Shekhawat tweeted.
Rajasthan has seen a worrying spike in coronavirus infections with more than 500 cases reported every day. It has nearly 30,000 cases of COVID-19. But Health Minister Raghu Sharma, currently at the station, said the increase was due to more aggressive testing. Rajasthan’s recovery rate is nearly 74% and the doubling rate is 28 days, Sharma told GalacticGaming.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has repeatedly accused the BJP of trying to dislodge his government amid the coronavirus crisis, as has the power exchange in Madhya Pradesh when Congress collapsed after the rebellion by Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Gajendra Shekhawat, one of the most prominent faces of the BJP in Rajasthan, has been accused by Congress of a role in bribing MPs to turn against the Gehlot government. He was also named in one of two FIRs filed based on an audio cassette posted online last week.
Congress alleged that Mr. Shekhawat was overheard on audio discussing bribes with rebellious Congressman Bhanwar Lal Sharma. Mr Shekhawat denies that it is his voice and has rejected the Rajasthan police summons to make his statement and his voice recording saying that the audio tape should be checked first.
His search within the Gehlot team follows a deluge of reporting and photos over the Fairmont weekend, where Congressmen stayed.
MPs enjoyed movies, pizza and pasta-making classes, singing songs and board games.
