Round tower at Windsor Castle, where Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain lives due to the pandemic

London:

Some royal residences of Queen Elizabeth II will reopen to the public later this month after they closed when the coronavirus closed, the Royal Collection Trust announced on Wednesday.

Windsor Castle in west London, where the 94-year-old monarch has lived since the start of the pandemic, will be open for scheduled and pre-booked tours starting July 23.

The Royal Mews and the Queen’s Gallery at his London home at Buckingham Palace will reopen the same day, as will the Palace of Holyroodhouse, his official residence in Edinburgh.

However, the state halls of Buckingham Palace, Frogmore House and Clarence House will remain closed during the summer months “due to the operational challenges of social isolation”.

The Royal Collection Trust, which manages the Royal Collection of Art and manages public access to official residences, is said to have suffered a significant drop in revenue, which forced it to plan for voluntary layoffs.

It was expected to make 77 million pounds (85.6 million euros, $ 96.5 million) this year, but the foreclosure has cut its revenue to 13 million pounds, according to the Daily Telegraph, citing an internal note.

Visitors to the royal residences will be asked to book their tickets in advance and new measures have been introduced, including one-way routes, to maintain social distance to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
