Kulgam:
This morning, two terrorists were killed during a meeting in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. Research and an operation are underway in the region.
According to officials, an operation was launched by the security forces after specific information about the presence of at least two terrorists. A subsequent meeting led to the murder of two unidentified terrorists.
“Two unidentified terrorists have been neutralized during the ongoing meeting. The search is underway. More details will follow,” tweeted the Kashmiri police.
According to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), contact was established after the area was closed and the shootings exchanged.
The army, the police and the CRPF jointly launched Operation Lallan on the basis of intelligence provided.
Sixteen terrorists, all local, were killed during meetings in the past week.
The search and cordon operation comes one day after the death of a civilian when Pakistani security forces violated the ceasefire and targeted Indian army posts along the line of control between the Rampur sector in Baramulla and Haipir sector in Uri.
Two Pakistani soldiers were killed and three others injured in retaliatory fire, sources said.
It was the second ceasefire violation in as many days.
