Shimla:
Two teenagers from Rajasthan drowned in a lake in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district as they tried to take a selfie on Saturday, an official said.
Mukesh Kumar and Amarjeet, both 18, drowned in Pong Dam Lake near Bathu at Jawali police station, he added.
They are residents of Hanumangarh district in Rajasthan and came to Kangra Naga Bari village in Nurpur tehsil to pick mangoes.
They visited the area to see the beauty of Pong Dam Lake on Saturday morning and went to the deep waters to take a selfie, he added.
When one of the young people started to drown, the other approached him to try to save him, but both drowned, he added.
Police arrived at the scene and the matter was under investigation.
The deputy magistrate of the division Jawali Saleem Ajam and the tehsildar Sant Ram Nagar also visited the site.
