San Francisco:
Twitter was working Thursday night to resolve a global outage in the social media platform used by hundreds of millions of people around the world.
The outage marked yet another setback for the network, which is pushing back accusations of bias over the decision to block critical reporting by Democratic White House candidate Joe Biden.
“We know people are having difficulty tweeting and using Twitter. We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible,” a company spokesperson told AFP at 22:25 GMT.
Repeated attempts to post a tweet were greeted with the message: “An error has occurred, but don’t worry – let’s try another chance.”
According to downdetector.com, users on all continents said they could not use the platform, but the outages were focused on the eastern and western coasts of the United States, as well as Japan.
The outage appears to have started around 9:30 p.m. GMT.
“We are continuing to monitor as our teams investigate. More updates to come,” Twitter’s application programming interface site said.
