President Donald Trump has stopped providing “billions of dollars” in military aid to Pakistan as it shelters terrorists who tried to kill American soldiers, Republican-American politician Nikki Haley said on Saturday.
Speaking at an event hosted by the Indian Voices for Trump in the Battlefield State of Philadelphia, Haley praised Trump’s foreign policy.
The two-term governor of South Carolina, Haley was the first Indian-American in any presidential administration. She is now campaigning for Trump ahead of the US election.
“We were giving a billion dollars in military aid to Pakistan, which was turning around to harbor terrorists, who were trying to kill our American soldiers. We are not giving this billion dollars,” said the former US envoy to the United Nations. .
“Now there’s actually a method that the president uses, which seems like we shouldn’t just be using a UN vote to decide who to get funding from, but that should be one of the things we’re looking at. we do foreign policy, ”she added.
US officials have repeatedly accused Pakistan of sponsoring terrorism.
In 2018, the Trump administration suspended $ 300 million in funding to Islamabad for what it calls the government’s inability to take action against terrorists.
