Actor Jagdeep, better known as the 1975 film Soorma Bhopali Sholay, died due to age-related issues Wednesday at his Mumbai home. Bollywood celebrities, many of whom have played with the actor in their respective films, remember him on social media. Actor Amitabh Bachchan, who co-starred with Jagdeep in Sholay (with Dharmendra), remembers the actor in his blog post: “Last night, we lost another jewel … Jagdeep … The actor of exceptional comic repertoire, died … He had created a unique individual style of his own .. and I had the honor to work with him in several films … the most important to the public being Sholay and Shahenshah… a humble human .. loved by millions. “
Lyricist writer Javed Akhtar, who co-wrote the character of Soorma Bhopali (with writer Salim Khan), summed up Jagdeep’s journey to the movies – as a child artist Do Bigha Zamin to play “very emotional and dramatic roles.” He added: “Comedy was his second successful run. Great talent, underutilized. Goodbye, sir.” Javed Akhtar’s son Farhan also added, “Thank you for the years of fun and laughter.”
Jagdeep saheb first appeared on the screen as a childish child in films like Do bigha Zameen. As a young man, he played very moving dramatic roles in films like Bhabi, Patang. The comedy was his second successful run. Great talent, underused. Good bye, sir .

The actors Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgn were among the first to tweet about the death of the actor. Anil Kapoor, who co-starred with Jagdeep in Ek Baar Kaho, tweeted: “Jagdeep Saab was one of the biggest players in India … He has always been extremely supportive and encouraging.” Ajay Devgn added: “I always liked watching it on the screen. It brought so much joy to the audience.”

Jagdeep, born Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri, has also appeared in films like Purana Mandir, Andaz Apna Apna, Life partner, Bombay to Goa, Phool Aur Kaante, Shahenshah. He was last seen in a 2012 film Gali Gali Chor Hai.
He has appeared in over 400 films over a career spanning more than six decades.
