Sachin Pilot has repeatedly requested to be appointed Chief Minister of Rajasthan within a year and has refused to meet with Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi unless they are prepared to accept his request sources close to party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said last Friday.
The statement came as a rebuttal to one of Mr. Pilot’s camp members that he was unceremoniously sacked as deputy chief minister three hours after a phone conversation last week with Ms. Vadra, who had attempted to convince the 42-year-old to reverse his mutiny. .
Members of Mr Pilot’s circle told GalacticGaming he was “sorry” that he was sacked shortly after the phone call with Ms Vadra – among the many Gandhi contacts following his revolt against the minister in Chief Ashok Gehlot.
The President of Rajasthan said today that he has decided to go to the Supreme Court to avoid “a constitutional crisis” and a confrontation with the courts over his powers. President CP Joshi was asked yesterday by the High Court of Rajasthan to stay the action until his ruling on Friday on the rebels’ petition challenging the disqualification notices served by him.
The BJP has 76 MPs in the Rajasthan assembly, which has 200 members and to form the government the party will need the support of at least 25 additional MPs. But the BJP is considering an additional 10 MLA as a buffer.
