Dehradun:
The Center approved Rs 2,000 crore for the BharatNet phase II program in Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said the digital connectivity initiative would revolutionize telecommunications and Internet connectivity in the state.
The initiative will make the Internet available in 5,991 grams of panchayats in 65 blocks in 12 districts, said Rawat.
With the internet reaching all gram panchayats through this initiative, a new era of development will begin in Uttarakhand, the chief minister said on Saturday at a press conference.
Describing it as an initiative that will revolutionize telecommunications and Internet connectivity in the state, Rawat thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of IT and Telecommunications Ravi Shankar Prasad for it.
Financed by the Universal Service Bonds Fund – USOF – of the Ministry of Telecommunications, the mega initiative is to be implemented in two phases across the country under the supervision of Bharat Broad Band Network Limited.
In Uttarakhand, the program will be implemented by the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA).
With the implementation of BharatNet 2.0, the people of the state will
able to easily access facilities such as e-governance, e-office, e-district, e-health, telemedicine, e-education, e-banking, etc. .
Significant steps have been taken in the last three years in the IT field, including CM Dashboard which facilitates monitoring of development projects on a priority basis, from block level to CMO.
