Extending its support for the Telugu film industry (TFI), Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy agreed to resume filming in the state on Tuesday from July 15, reported l ANI news agency. A delegation of Tollywood bigshots, including superstars Akkineni Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi and Baahubali SS Director Rajamouli had met with the Chief Minister earlier today to discuss problems faced by the industry as a result of the COVID lockout. Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi spoke to the media after the meeting with the CM and said that the chief minister had agreed to allow shooting in the state from July 15. The CM also assured to allocate 300 acres of land to Visakhapatnam for the industry, added the actor. .
“The chief minister has assured of supplying land to Vizag for the film industry, for the establishment of studios and other production facilities working from the state,” said the Minister of Information and Andhra Pradesh Perni Nani public relations.
“The government has also agreed to provide land for housing for celebrities who wish to settle in Vizag,” added the minister.
A TFI delegation including superstars Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, producers D Suresh Babu, Dil Raju, C Kalyan and directors Trivikram Srinivas, SS Rajamouli had arrived in Amaravati on a special flight from Hyderabad to meet the CM at his residence earlier in the day.
The industry has been closed for more than two months due to health concerns related to the coronavirus crisis and the national closure.
