A minor girl was reportedly raped in the Sahibganj district of Jharkhand on Monday, prompting a demonstration by villagers.
Police have arrested a suspect in this case. “We have arrested a suspect. We are investigating the matter,” said police official Anuranjan Kispotta.
“Immediately after the story came to light, the sub-divisional officer in charge of the post took cognizance and began to investigate the matter and identified the accused,” said Varun Ranjan, a senior official of the police.
Shortly after the incident, the villagers blocked a road for hours. They also burned tires on the road and launched slogans against the district administration.
