Pune:
NCP chief Sharad Pawar said on Tuesday that the investigation into the death case for actor Sushant Singh Rajput had taken “a different direction.”
Speaking to reporters in Pandharpur in Solapur district, Mr Pawar appeared to question the progress made by the CBI in its investigation into the case, which was initially probed by Mumbai police.
He also ruled out any politics behind the hotly debated meeting between Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut and BJP main leader Devendra Fadnavis last week.
Asked about Union Minister Ramdas Athawale’s suggestion that Pawar join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in case the Shiv Sena does not forge ties with the former BJP ally, Mr Pawar said no one takes the leader of RPI (A) seriously inside and out. Parliament.
Speaking on the case of Sushant Singh Rajput, he said: “It may be because the central government did not trust the Mumbai police, which is why the investigation into the case has was assigned to another agency (CBI). “
“What light they (CBI) shed on the case, we haven’t seen it yet. Suicide (angle) aside, now weird things are manifesting. Now the investigation into the case has taken a different direction, ”he said. adding that things will become clear once the truth is revealed.
The veteran politician was apparently referring to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) expanding its investigation into the alleged Bollywood-drug link stemming from the Rajput death case.
Asked about Mr Athawale’s comments, Mr Pawar said: “Does his party (Ramdas Athawale) have a single MP or MP? He speaks, gives advice, but no one takes it seriously, nor in Parliament or outside “.
Mr Athawale had asked the Shiv Sena to meet with the BJP to form a government in Maharashtra and also suggested a formula for power sharing between the two Saffron parties.
Responding to a question about the Fadnavis-Raut meeting, Mr Pawar, whose party is part of the Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government, said: “If a journalist or newspaper editor interviews leaders of different parties, it does not mean that it is associated with that party.
“When Raut interviewed me (for Sena spokesman ‘Saamana’), he announced that he would interview Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Raut had also specified that he would interview the leaders of the BJP. I don’t think it’s necessary to comment on that, ”he said.
Mr Pawar said the interview (with Fadnavis) will take place and be published, “but it will have no effect on state policy”.
Speaking about the Maratha reserve, which was recently suspended by the Supreme Court, the head of the NCP said the central government and the BJP supported Rajya Sabha Chhatrapati MPs Sambhaji Raje and Chhatrapati Udayan Raje Bhosale, and “they should take initiative to solve this problem “.
