New Delhi:
Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s father has asked the Supreme Court to hear him before ruling on Rhea Chakraborty’s petition to transfer the actor’s death case from Patna to Mumbai.
The warning filed by Mr Rajput’s father in the Supreme Court seeking to prevent Ms Chakraborty from having the case transferred to Mumbai comes after the actor’s family accused his girlfriend of preventing him from staying in touch with them and cheating, ultimately leading him to suicide. Senior lawyer Vikas Singh has confirmed that the warning has been filed.
Mumbai police sources told GalacticGaming that the family made no mention of their suspicions or allegations when they first met senior officers in Mumbai after the actor’s death. The family also did not allege anything in the written statements, the sources said.
Mumbai Police said they were conducting a full investigation, while Patna Police said they were continuing their own independent investigation.
Earlier this month, Ms Chakraborty called the Central Bureau of Investigation into Mr Rajput’s death, tagging Home Secretary Amit Shah in a post on Instagram.
Ms Chakraborty, who revealed she had received threats of rape and murder on social media for the actor’s death, said she “just wanted to understand what made him take the plunge” .
In a long post before that, the 28-year-old actor opened up about the bond she shared with him, saying, “Still struggling to cope with my emotions … irreparable numbness in my heart … It is you who created I believe in love. “
However, Mr. Rajput’s family, who live in Patna, accused her of inciting suicide, alleging that she had cheated on him financially and harassed him mentally.
The first information report (FIR) filed by them in Patna also names six other people, including members of his family. A team of four Patna police have already reached Mumbai to investigate the case.
Ms Chakraborty on Wednesday asked the Supreme Court to transfer the case filed at Patna to Mumbai, adding that she was willing to cooperate with Mumbai police in the investigation.
Widely recognized as a promising young actor, Mr. Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment in Mumbai on June 14.
