Patna:
Actor Sushant Singh Rajput has been “assassinated,” his cousin Neeraj Bablu, a member of parliament from Bihar, told the state assembly today, demanding an investigation from the CBI.
As Sushant Singh Rajput case takes a political turn in Bihar, Neeraj Bablu, a BJP MP, has received support from unlikely circles in his demand for a CBI investigation into the death of his cousin – the opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav.
Tejashwi Yadav, who accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of lack of initiative in pursuing the actor’s case, also called for naming an upcoming cinema city in Rajgir after Sushant Singh Rajput.
Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, was found dead at his home in Mumbai on June 14. Mumbai Police said he committed suicide and have since investigated allegations the actor was pushed overboard by intense groupism and rivalry in the Hindi film industry.
Bihar police have launched a parallel investigation after the actor’s father filed a complaint against his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, accusing him of cheating, transferring money from Sushant Rajput’s account and mentally harassing him.
The investigations sparked a turf war between the Patna police and the Mumbai police. Yesterday, a senior IPS official from Bihar was quarantined after arriving in Mumbai, which escalated the brawl.
Nitish Kumar said that was “not right” and that a senior Bihar police official would speak to the Maharashtra police.
Several political parties in Bihar have called for a full investigation and raised questions about the circumstances of the shocking death.
Last week, Chirag Paswan, an ally of Nitish Kumar in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar, goaded the chief minister and repeatedly questioned why he had not intervened in a case involving a “talented young man from Bihar”.
