The Aalo-Mechuka road is essential for the transport of essential items, medicines and people among others

Itanagar:

Road connectivity to the remote Shi-Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh was cut after a bridge was washed away by floods from the heavy rain in the past two days, officials said on Friday.

Shi-Yomi district, on the border with China, was cut off from the rest of the country after the RCC (reinforced concrete) bridge near the village of Yapik on the Aalo-Mechuka road was washed away on Wednesday evening, they said. declared.

Transportation of people and essentials to the remote district will be severely affected, as it will likely take several days to restore the bridge, officials said, adding that people traveling between Mechuka and Aalo have been stranded.

Expressing deep concern at the incident, Assembly President Pasang D Sona, who represents the district, urged the Border Roads Organization (BRO) to restore the bridge to war.

In a letter to the chief engineer of the BRO Brahmank Project based in the East Siang district, the speaker stated that the Aalo-Mechuka road “is the key and strategic road for the movement of people, transport essentials, vital medicines, construction equipment and movement of defense personnel throughout the Shi-Yomi district. “

He said that due to inclement weather, the supply of essential items and the evacuation of emergency patients through outings would not be possible either.

The bridge must be built on the warpath to restore connectivity and alleviate the problems, said Sona, urging the chief engineer of the BRO to take immediate action.
