New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the United Nations Annual General Assembly. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s United Nations General Assembly is being held virtually, as nearly all world leaders deliver their speeches in a pre-recorded video format.

The annual debate of the United Nations General Assembly is held at the United Nations office in New York. 2020 marks the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which began in 1945, after the end of World War II.

Here are the HIGHLIGHTS of PM Modi’s speech to the United Nations General Assembly:

  • India is proud to be the founding member of the United Nations. The world was very different in 1945. The problems, the solutions were all different. The challenges of our present and our future are now different. The international community faces an important question. Is the UN of 1945 still relevant today?
  • It is true that the third world war did not happen, but it cannot be denied that there were a lot of wars, many civil wars also took place. How many terrorist attacks have caused rivers of blood to flow. In these wars, in these attacks, the people who were killed were human beings like you.
  • Changes in UN reactions, changes in arrangements, change in appearance – Today is the need of the hour. The Indian people have waited a long time to complete the ongoing process with United Nations reforms. Indians wonder if this process will ever reach the logical end. After all, how long will India remain separate from the decision-making structures of the United Nations?
  • When we were weak, we did not trouble the world. When we became strong, we did not become a burden on the world. How long should we wait? The ideals of the UN and the great principles of India are similar. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam echoed in UN theaters time and time again.
