Actor Sonu Sood, who became a bit of a hero Among the migrants stranded for his efforts to send them home, announced that he would financially support more than 400 migrant families, who died or were injured during the closure of the coronavirus, reported the PTI news agency. On Monday, according to PTI, the 46-year-old actor said in a statement: “I have decided to help the families of deceased or injured migrants have a secure future. I think it is my personal responsibility to provide them “PTI also said that Sonu Sood had contacted authorities in several states, including Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, to obtain the addresses and bank details of the family members of the deceased or injured migrants.
Sonu Sood, best known for playing antagonists in movies, has been hailed as a hero on social media for his successful efforts to send thousands of stranded migrants to their villages of origin. Sonu Sood organized food, buses, trains and even charter flights for stranded migrantssome of them walked home after seclusion earlier in March and left them unemployed. Sonu Sood has also launched a free hotline for migrants so that those who need help can share their contact details over the phone.
Sonu Sood also helped thousands of people in Maharashtra before Cyclone Nisarga made landfall at Alibaug last month. The actor and his team distributed food to 28,000 people across the Mumbai coastlines and transferred them to several schools and colleges before Cyclone Nisarga hit the coast of Maharashtra.
In April, Sonu Sood offered his hotel in Mumbai for health professionals to stay there.
