Pranab Mukherjee is on life support at Delhi Military Hospital.

New Delhi:

Pranab Mukherjee “responds to external stimuli and treatments” and the 96-hour observation period ends today, his son tweeted today as the former president continued to be on life support. The 84-year-old man, who tested positive for the coronavirus, has been on life support at the Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi since brain surgery on Monday. “Her vital signs are currently stable,” the hospital said.

In his tweet, Mr Mukherjee’s son also quoted a phrase from his father.

“The 96 hour observation period ends today. My father’s vital parameters remain stable and he responds to external stimuli and treatment. My father has always said, ‘I have received a lot more from Indians than I have. could not give them back. “Please pray for him,” Abhijit Mukherjee tweeted.

The army hospital said Mukherjee’s condition remained “unchanged this morning”. “He is in intensive care and continues to receive ventilatory assistance. His vital parameters are currently stable,” he said.

Pranab Mukherjee’s daughter Sharmistha said her father’s condition “had not worsened” and there was “little improvement in the reaction of his eyes to light”.

Mr Mukherjee’s son and daughter on Thursday denounced “speculation” and “fake news” about his health.

Pranab Mukherjee had tweeted before his operation on Monday that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

“During a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I tested positive for COVID-19 today. I ask people who came into contact with me last week to self-isolate and get tested for COVID-19, “he posted.

Shortly after the news of his hospitalization came in, wishes poured in from various quarters for his early recovery and a number of executives sent their wishes on Twitter. President Ram Nath Kovind also spoke with Sharmistha Mukherjee and inquired about her state of health on Monday evening. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh went to the hospital the same day.

Her daughter wrote in a touching message on Wednesday that she prayed to God to do what was best for her father.

Pranab Mukherjee was the thirteenth President of India from 2012 to 2017.

Special prayers were held in the ancestral village of Mr. Mukherjee in West Bengal. The three days “mrityunjay yagna“was organized by relatives of Mr. Mukherjee in Birbhum district.
