As word of his death spread, family members of Deepak Singh and residents of his village, located about 40 km from the Rewa district headquarters, plunged into grief.

“I spoke to him just a few days ago and at that time he told me that after the lockout ended, he would take time off and go home. The inconsolable grandmother of 1 year told PTI on Wednesday.

Phool Kumari informed that the mother of Deepak Singh died several years ago and since then, she takes care of him.

“He was a very loving person and used to respect everyone in the house. Everyone loved him very much,” she said, shedding tears.

Deepak Singh married on November 30, 2019, and his wife, Rekha Singh, works at the Navodaya boarding school in the Sirmaur of Madhya Pradesh, family sources said.

“Army officials informed us of his death at around 8 am on Wednesday and since then, a dark veil has fallen over the whole village,” said his family.

“Army officials told us that his body would reach the village on Thursday,” said Phool Kumari.

Deepak Singh joined the military in 2013 and was posted to the Galwan Valley with the Bihar Regiment. His father, Gajraj Singh, is a farmer and his older brother, Prakash, is also in the military and is posted to Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, family sources said.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan paid tribute to the valiant soldier, claiming that he had shown exemplary courage in protecting the country’s borders and had sacrificed his life in the country. exercise of its functions.
