Bhopal:
Madhya Pradesh congressional politician tweeted Wednesday in major controversy comparing a set of central ploys, including demonetization and the GST, to “girls” forced into the country to get a “son” – Vikas (development).
“People were hoping for a son, but instead they got five daughters. All these girls were born but one son, Vikas, is not yet born, “said Jitu Patwari, former education minister and serving president of his party’s state unity.
Jitu Patwari is a Member of Parliament for the constituency of Rau in Madhya Pradesh.
The unpleasant and sexist remark was an attempt to attack the government “sabka saath, sabka vikas (with all, development for all) “slogan used freely by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the campaign for the Lok Sabha elections of 2014 and 2019.
Mr. Patwari issued an apology, in a way, shortly after, writing: “I regret that feelings have been hurt” and adding “as regards the girls, they are divine”.
“Modiji has broken the back of the country’s economy with demonetization, the GST, inflation, unemployment and the recession. The public has endured all this only in the hope of development. I regret that feelings were injured, “he wrote.
Patwari also reaffirmed his claim that he only wanted to target the BJP on “its weaknesses” and failed its promises to the people.
Among those who went wild at Jitu Patwari was Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who asked Congressman Sonia Gandhi to respond to the rude remark from his party colleague.
“As the country celebrates the sacrifice of Rani Durgavati (a mid-sixteenth-century queen), he tweets that five daughters are born to a son. Is it a crime to have daughters? Has Sonia Gandhi given the task of humiliating his daughters about this chief? ” Asked Mr. Chouhan.
The NCW (National Commission for Women) has taken note of the misogynistic tweet of Jitu Patwari, the president of the agency, Rekha Sharma, declaring “she will certainly ask him for an explanation”.
“It is sad that these people, with this kind of mentality, call themselves leaders. What do they teach their supporters, I wonder. I will certainly ask them for an explanation,” tweeted the president of NCW. in response to a message from BJP spokesperson
