Mumbai:
Targeting the Bharatiya Janata party, CPN leader Sharad Pawar said politicians should not take voters for granted because even powerful leaders like Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee were beaten in the elections.
Criticizing former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis over his claim to “Mi punha yein” (I will come back) in last year’s polls, Sharad Pawar said voters believed this position to be clear. arrogance and felt that they should be taught a lesson.
Pawar also said there was not an “iota of truth” in reports on the differences between the three ruling allies – Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress – who are members of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) directed by Uddhav Thackeray.
The former Union minister said so in an interview with the leader of Shiv Sena and editor-in-chief of the spokesperson for the party “Saamana”. The first in the three-part series of interviews was published today in the daily Marathi.
It is the first time that a non-Shiv Sena leader has participated in a series of marathon interviews in the mouth of the party. He has so far published interviews with the late Bal Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray marathon.
Responding to a question about the BJP’s defeat in the latest Assembly polls in the state, Pawar said: “In a democracy, you cannot think that you will stay in power forever. Voters will not tolerate if taken for granted, base with like Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee had been defeated. “
“This means that in terms of democratic rights, the common man is wiser than politicians. If we politicians cross the line, it teaches us a lesson. Therefore, people do not like the position that “we will come back to power,” “he said.
“No politician should take people for granted. No one should take a position to bring them back to power. People thought that this position smelled of arrogance and, therefore, there was a growing feeling among them that it should be given to them. a lesson, “said Mr. Pawar.
He said that the change of government in Maharashtra was not an accident.
“The people of Maharashtra voted according to the feeling that prevailed in the country during the national elections. But the mood changed during the elections. Even though the BJP did well in Lok Sabha’s polls, it did poorly in elections in different states. the people of Maharashtra voted for a change, “he said.
Responding to a question about his reported differences with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on state foreclosure, Mr. Pawar said, “Absolutely not. What differences? What for? What during the foreclosure period, I had excellent communication with the chief minister and continue to do so. “Mr. Pawar, who played a key role in bringing together the Sena, Congress and the NCP for the formation of government in the state in November of last year, said.
He blamed the media and said sarcastically that the news gathering activity had been affected by the coronavirus lock-in and that they were responsible for filling the pages of the newspapers.
“I have read reports of growing differences between the three allies, but there is not an iota of truth in it,” he said.
Speaking about the operating style of the founder of Shiv Sena, Bal Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray, Mr. Pawar said: “Although Balasaheb was never in power, he was the engine of power. He obtained power in Maharashtra because of its ideology. “
“Today, the government is not because of ideology. But the responsibility for the implementation of this power now lies with Uddhav Thackeray,” he said.
