Two Indo-American CEOs, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella and GAP’s Sonia Syngal, are among a select group of nine business leaders and workers invited Monday by President-elect Joe Biden to discuss issues related to the economy of the country.
Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris would join Biden in the virtual meeting with top U.S. CEOs.
The president-elect and vice-president-elect will meet with business and union leaders to discuss economic recovery and long-term reconstruction, the transition said.
“It will bring together business and worker leaders to discuss how – despite our different perspectives – we can work together to achieve our common goals,” he said ahead of the meeting.
Attendees include Richard Trumka, President of AFL-CIO, Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors, Mary Kay Henry, President of SEIU, Rory Gamble, President of UAW, Brian Cornell, CEO and Chairman of the Board of administration of Targe, Marc Perrone, president of UFCW, and Lee Saunders, president of AFSCME.
Later today, Biden will deliver remarks on how to ensure workers and businesses can operate safely and rebuild the economy to be more resilient and inclusive, the transition said.
“He will discuss how our economy and the virus are intertwined, and say we need to contain the virus in order to get our economy back on track,” the transition said.
