New Delhi:

Former Rajasthan chief vice minister Sachin Pilot called on the people of the country to support those affected by the floods in Assam and Bihar.

Sachin Pilot’s appeal comes amid the political storm raging in Rajasthan where he has declared an open rebellion against the Ashok Gehlot government. Sachin Pilot was sacked as deputy chief minister and chief of state congress earlier this week.

“My thoughts and prayers with all these families affected by the floods in Assam and Bihar. Over 68 lives lost and 3.6 million people affected in Assam alone,” Sachin Pilot tweeted on Saturday.

“I call on all Indians, to come together, to join efforts to help those affected in these situations of extreme flooding,” he said.

The floods affected more than 27 lakh people in 26 of the 33 districts of Assam and destroyed homes, crops, roads and bridges in several places.

Sachin Pilot’s tweet was his first in four days. His last tweets date from July 14, the day he was sacked from the two posts.

Shortly after he was deposed as deputy chief minister of Rajasthan and head of the CCP, Sachin Pilot said on Tuesday that “the truth can be shaken, not defeated.”

Later in the evening, Sachin Pilot tweeted: “My sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone who came to support me today”.
