Attempts by Russian-backed hackers to steal research on the COVID-19 vaccine in Britain are “completely unacceptable” but have done no harm, Security Minister James Brokenshire said on Friday.
The British National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) said on Thursday that Russian-backed hackers had attempted to steal COVID-19 vaccines and research into treatments from academic and pharmaceutical institutions around the world. Russia has rejected London’s claims.
“It is completely unacceptable that Russian intelligence agencies seek to penetrate the systems of those who seek to respond to this crisis … to develop a vaccine,” Brokenshire told Sky News.
